Finite Element Analysis is an important course, particularly for engineers graduating in Mechanical Engg.  It is a very powerful tool used in analysis of very large types and number of engineering problems.  It is based on finite element method used to solve mathematical models of almost all engineering systems. 

Through this course, the students will learn FEM, in general, and its implementation to solve one and two-dimensional problems of structural mechanics, heat transfer and mechanical vibration, in particular.     

Mechanics of Composite Materials is macro-analysis of composite materials using Classical Lamination Theory (CLT)

Course Outcomes:

At the end of the course, students will demonstrate the ability to:

  • Design, implement and compare coding techniques for the memoryless and stationary discrete sources.

  • Implement binary block and convolutional channel coding techniques for error detection and correction in both forms viz. hardware and software.

  • Estimate error detection and correction capabilities of block and convolutional channel codes.

Course Objectives:

Broad Objective: To understand the working principle of standard network applications and their implementation on network edge devices

Detailed Objectives:

·         To assess intricacies and develop ‘C/C++’ codes for certain network applications

·         To analyze protocols at different layers of networks with the help of packet capturing tool such as Wireshark.

·         To understand and use network simulation tool NS2 for simulating different networks and analyze their performance.


This is an UG level core course in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. The objectives of this course are:- To understand networking in a top-down manner – that is, by beginning at the application layer and working its way down towards the physical layer with the focus on the Internet, its architecture and protocols,  To understand switching in networks.
